The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction is looming on the horizon. Ahead of the mega event, the various 10 franchises will have to submit their retention lists, where the teams will inform the board about the players that they will retain ahead of the auction.
One such side would be Delhi Capitals (DC). Led by Rishabh Pant, the side is still chasing their first IPL title, and with the deadline for the retention submission approaching, there have been reports that Capitals will not retain their skipper, Rishabh Pant. Seeing the report, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh took centre stage and gave his take on the retention. He opined that if he was a part of Delhi Capitals’ management, he would retain Rishabh Pant for the IPL 2025.
“We have heard a lot of speculation on whether Rishabh Pant will be retained or not. Time will tell, but if I was a part of the management there, then I would have retained him. Rishabh Pant should be retained. Axar Patel should be retained. Stubbs should be retained,” Harbhajan told Star Sports.
“And the 4th player to be retained will be Fraser McGurk. And if you want to retain the 5th player, then it could be Mitch Marsh. Apart from that, I think there is no other player that you would want to retain. Out of those 5 players, I think Delhi Capitals should retain at least 4 of them,” he added.
