2024 is nearing its end and it will make way for the new year. Subsequently, the Google search engine has put out a list of the Indian celebrities who were in the most focus in the year 2024. In a video shared by the tech giant, it has revealed five names that were most trending in the year and Indian star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya is the fourth most trending Indian celebrity in India.

It is worth noting that, Pandya was released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He went on to win the IPL 2022 trophy for the Gujrat Titans as the captain and led them to the finals of IPL 2023. Ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction, he was traded back to MI in a record deal. Things worsened when Rohit Sharma was replaced by him as MI captain, and the rumours of Pandya demanding the captaincy as a trade deal irked Rohit’s fans.

What followed thereafter was an intense social media ire. Pandya became the fodder for social media trolls and personal jibes both on and off the field. He had a lacklustre 2024 season for MI as captain with the team finishing last in the points table. He later travelled with the Indian team to the West Indies and the United States of America for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The all-rounder made sure his contributions helped the team’s cause and delivered some exceptional performances. But the cherry on the cake was his final over in the ultimate title clash between India and South Africa which etched his name in the history. He defended nine runs off the last over as India won an ICC Trophy after a hiatus of 11 years. He was the most trending person from the cricket fraternity in India for the whole year.
