ENG vs AUS: Harry Brook lauds teammates after drubbing Australia in fourth ODI
England defeated Australia by 186 runs in the fourth ODI.
England picked up a phenomenal win of 186 runs over Australia in the fourth ODI at Lord’s. Opener Ben Duckett gave a perfect start, scoring a half-century while captain Harry Brook played an aggressive brand of cricket, hitting 87 runs off 58 deliveries. Towards the fag end of the innings, which was 39 overs due to rain, Liam Livingstone wreaked havoc and smashed an unbeaten 62 runs in 27 deliveries.
His cracking knock included hitting 28 runs in Mitchell Starc’s final over. Livingstone dominated towards the end of the first innings, helping England post a massive total of 312 runs on the board. When it came to the chase, the Australian batters lacked character as seven of their batters failed to score in double digits. They suffered an embarrassing defeat as the series is now locked level at 2-2.

After the win, England captain Brook was full of praise for his teammates. He noted Duckett’s terrific knock up in the order and Livingstone’s finish and also lauded the bowlers for their performance. Notably, Matthew Potts picked up four wickets, Brydon Carse clinched three and Jorfra Archer two. Brook was also happy with how he faired in the fourth ODI.
“We have taken all the positives and the momentum we had from the first two games and brought them to the last two games. Ducky (Duckett), we know how good he is, up top he's unbelievably tough to bowl to. We know what Livi (Livingstone) is capable of at the back end and he showed it beautifully tonight,” Brook said in the post-match presentation.
“They (England bowlers) bowled beautifully. On an interesting wicket, we got a few too many over par but they bowled beautifully, they smashed the lengths beautifully and they got the rewards. He (Jofra Archer) was bowling quick tonight as well, it was good to watch with a bit of swing and seam movement, hopefully, we can see that a lot more going forward. It's always nice to be scoring runs, you think a bit more clearly when you are playing well,” he added.
