Hats off to Ishant Sharma to come back strong as he did from being sick for a week: David Warner
DC defeated KKR by four wickets.
Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner heaped praise on ace pacer Ishant Sharma for his brilliant spell against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday, April 20, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Notably, he was recovering from illness for quite some time and, thus, was not part of DC’s playing XI in the initial matches. However, on his return, Ishant picked up two wickets, giving away just 19 runs in his four overs as DC defeated KKR by four wickets.
Courtesy of his brilliant spell, KKR struggled to get going with the bat as the visiting team posted only 127 runs on the board. Thus, Warner was mighty impressed with his fellow teammate and stated the same on his Instagram handle. He also mentioned that it is never easy to perform under pressure, but the desire to get better in each training session paid dividends for the team’s win against KKR.
“We are on the board, and I could not be any more prouder of the boys fight back. Never easy being under pressure but the desire to keep getting better and better each training session will always pay off. Hats off to @ishant.sharma29 to come back a strong as he did from being sick for a week and putting that performance on the board was outstanding. Hyderabad here we come,” Warner wrote on Instagram after DC’s first win of the IPL 2023 season.
We would want to win every game from here on, qualify and hopefully win the tournament: Ishant
Courtesy of his brilliant performance, Ishant was adjudged Player of the Match against KKR. During the post-match presentation, the 34-year-old made his intentions clear that he wants to help DC win the remaining games and eventually lift the prestigious title.
“I was just waiting for my chance. I wanted to win a game for the team whenever I will get a chance. Depends on what kind of plans you have ( When quizzed if he had specific plans to a certain batter). Matter of time when you want to execute your plans. There is no lucky charm in the team. We would want to win every game from here on, qualify and hopefully win the tournament,” Ishant stated as quoted by Cricbuzz.
