Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clashed at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in Match 12 of the Indian Premier League 2024. Pat Cummins, who is leading SRH in the ongoing IPL 2024 had a Déjà vu as he entered the world’s biggest stadium in the world. It was the same venue where he successfully led Australia to a World Cup title, thwarting hosts India amidst the jam packed stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023.
While at the toss for SRH, after winning the flip, the Aussie recalled the memories of delivering at the biggest stage and provided a tongue-in-cheek remark referring to the hype surrounding before the final. For the unversed, Cummins had stated before the World Cup final against India, that it would be pleasing to silence the 1,30,000 crowd by beating India. The statement had garnered wide attention, and it hit instantly on social media after Australia’s win.

"We are gonna bat first. Looks a good wicket and it's very warm. So, happy to bat first. Yeah, I've got wonderful memories here. It was a packed-stadium last time I played here and good to be back here. It's about the freedom. We know what we are capable of and trying to have a crack at it and see how it goes today. We are going with the same team," Cummins said at the toss.
Gujarat beat SRH by seven wickets at home
SRH were off to a great start after winning the toss as Travis Head continued his form. But they faltered big time after losing their openers and only managed 168 runs on board with their middle order collapsing as well.

In return, GT did not look too bothered about the chase as they made their life easy in the middle by converting one’s into two’s. They eventually reached the target with seven wickets to spare on the back of Sai Sudharsan and David Miller’s 45 and 44, respectively.
