Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was emotional following his brilliant century against South Africa in the fourth T20I at Johannesburg, making it his second of the series.

Samson's heroics came during India's record-breaking innings of 283/1 in the final T20I against South Africa. This performance wasn't just about numbers; it was about a player who has faced his fair share of struggles in international cricket.

“It is a bit hard to tell right now since I'm breathing so fast. I have had so many failures in my life, got two hundreds and then two ducks, I kept on believing in myself, kept on working hard and it came off today. After a couple of failures there were a lot of things going on in my head, Abhishek helped me out early on and then Tilak as well,” Samson told broadcasters after his innings.

Would like to keep it simple and focus on what I can do: Sanju Samson

Samson's 109* off 56 balls along with his unbeaten 210-run partnership with Tilak Varma who scored 120* off 47 balls created history, as they became the first pair from a Full Member nation to score centuries in the same T20I innings. Their stand set a new record for the highest partnership in T20Is for any wicket.

“I have had so many partnerships with him, he is a very young prospect and he is the future of Indian cricket and lovely to have a partnership with him. I don't like to talk much, last time I talked too much I got a couple of ducks, I would like to keep it simple and focus on what I can do. [This is] what our captain (Suryakumar Yadav) was expecting from us, and we are happy we made it happen,” Samson added.

With the 3-1 series, India ended all their commitments of 2024 in the shortest format of the game with a phenomenal run, where the team maintained an impressive record of 24 wins against just two losses, including an unbeaten T20 World Cup campaign.
