‘He always seems to get overlooked’ - Matthew Hayden wants Sanju Samson in India's T20 World Cup squad
"With Sanju, he always seems to get overlooked for national honours. I honestly been saying this for a decade," Hayden said.
Former Australia batter Matthew Hayden has called for Sanju Samson’s inclusion in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The ongoing IPL season is serving a chance for the players to display their form before the World Cup commences in June in West Indies and USA.
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has been in brilliant form in the IPL and is one of the highest run-getters of the tournament. In Royals’ recent clash against Lucknow Super Giants, he stood out once again with an unbeaten 71 off just 33 deliveries, propelling his side to a brilliant win. Overall, he has scored 385 runs at a brilliant average of 77 and strike rate over 160 in nine innings, with four half-centuries.

"With Sanju, he always seems to get overlooked for national honours. I honestly been saying this for a decade, I don’t know why because he is a serious hitter of the ball and if you put him up top, he does the damage through the phases. Tonight was the perfect captain’s knock and guess what, he did it in the end," Hayden told Star Sports.
Rajasthan Royals continue to dominate IPL 2024
Speaking of Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural champions are one of the most dominant sides in the tournament. Having played nine games, the Royals have registered eight victories and are on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament with 16 points.
