The journey has not at all been easy for 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal. From selling panipuri to not having a roof over his head, the youngster has seen his fair share of struggle. However, with the amount of talent he possessed, it was only a matter of time until he introduced himself to the world.

After his sensational performance for Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Jaiswal received his maiden India call-up for the ongoing multi-format series against the West Indies. Furthermore, the 21-year-old also made his debut in the first Test of the series, and as expected, he did not disappoint.

Jaiswal made his mark right on his debut as he scored a brilliant 171 runs in 387 deliveries while opening the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. It was also revealed that Jaiswal got quite emotional after the match when he called his father after smashing the sensational century.

Reflecting on the same, Jaiswal’s father, Bhupendra Jaiswal, came forward to reveal that the youngster called him very early in the morning and could not hold his tears back as both shared a heartwarming moment.

"He called around 4:30 am in the morning (IST) after scoring his century (Day 2). He couldn't hold back his tears. I cried too. It was a very emotional moment. He could not talk for a long time. He was tired. He just asked me 'are you happy, father?'," Jaiswal’s father told Hindustan Times.

India defeated West Indies by an innings and 141 runs

Aiming to minimize their trail as much as possible, the hosts were only able to notch up 130 runs on the board before they bundled out and handed India the win by an innings and 141 runs.
