Hardik Pandya against Pakistan and now Suryakumar Yadav against Hong Kong proved that there’s enough firepower in the Indian middle order right now. With a new strategy of expressing on the field, the young cricketers are making a significant mark in almost every game. Suryakumar’s unbeaten 68 off 26 deliveries was one such example. He went after the bowlers right from the moment he got in and that helped India put up a healthy total on the board.
Former India international Vijay Dahiya believes that with the kind of confidence that the 31-year-old has, he doesn't care about the wicket or the opposition. Suryakumar knows how to strike the ball well and does it seamlessly against any and every opponent when he’s in the zone.
Speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker, Vijay Dahiya said, “When a batter is full of confidence, then the player is in a separate zone altogether. One doesn't care about the wicket or about the opposition. The best example isn’t far away. The three batters who came ahead of Suryakumar Yadv, just look at them. The three players aren't able to express themselves at the moment and Suryakumar Yadav is playing like there is nothing to lose. He gives the expression that he doesn’t care, he can do whatever he wants to do and when you are in your zone, you can do so."
Suryakumar Yadav thanked Kohli for helping him express freely on the ground
Virat Kohli and Suryakumar’s unbroken 98-run partnership helped India win their second match of the Asia Cup by 40 runs. Against Hong Kong, Kohli took some time initially and remained unbeaten on 59* runs from 44 balls. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav was playing freely and expressed himself beautifully.
After the first innings, it was noticed that Kohli bowed down to Mi batter and appreciated his blistering knock on a more or less slow pitch at Dubai. The 31-year-old later thanked Virat for helping him express himself freely during the match.
Speaking to BCCI TV, the flamboyant batter said, “I know when you (Virat) bat 30-35 balls, your next 10 balls you bat with a strike rate of 200-250. So, it was important for me that you stay there so that I can bat freely till the 20th over.”
