'He gives us options because he has three skills' - Nic Pothas sheds light on Mehidy Hasan Miraz's role in T20Is

"It's very conditions based and we're very fortunate to have Miraz because he can bat at the top of the order and he can bat at the middle order," Pothas said.

Bangladesh cricket has been going through a rough time of late with their ongoing tour against team India not yielding any victories. Having lost the two-game Test series against Rohit Sharma’s men, Bangladesh succumbed to a loss in the first two T20Is of the series as well.

With many changes set to be made within the team, one change that the side has been looking to make is to find the perfect role for Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the T20I lineup. Bangladesh’s fielding coach, Nic Pothas, recently came forward and talked about the same.

Pothas opined that the ongoing T20I series against India has been a steep learning curve for Mehidy in many ways. It is also worth noting that the 26-year-old made his return to Bangladesh’s T20I squad after a gap of 14 months, and with Mahmudullah retiring, the side is looking to shift Miraz in a different role.

"It's very conditions based and we're very fortunate to have Miraz because he can bat at the top of the order and he can bat at the middle order and we have seen the progress he has made from a batting point of view," Pothas was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"You know we have tried him at the top with the ball which he has done well in the past. The last game, it can happen, it's T20. He gives us options because he has three skills which are of a very high quality,” he added.

We have a very different way of looking at things: Pothas

It is worth emphasizing that India defeated Bangladesh in the two-game Test series, and have clinched the three-game T20I series by winning the first two T20Is. Analysing his side’s performances, Pothas opined that Bangladesh’s camp has been looking at the series with a different point of view, and are treating it as a learning opportunity.

"You guys generally go good, bad, win, lose. We have a very different way of looking at things. We played against the best team of the world India. If we measure pure outcome, there are a lot of countries with bad tours in India,” Pothas said.
