Mahendra Singh Dhoni is often regarded as the most successful Indian cricket captain of all time. He is the only skipper to have won all three ICC white-ball tournaments viz- T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, and the ODI World Cup. He has also led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to four Indian Premier League (IPL) titles.
Therefore, this incredible feat surely makes any cricket expert wonder about his legendary run as a skipper. In the same vein, the Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden recently hailed the CSK captain's leadership abilities and termed him a "magician". Dhoni, according to Hayden, takes someone else's trash and turns it into treasure, adding he is a skilled and positive captain.
Notably, Dhoni-led CSK have secured their spot in the IPL 2023 final, which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28, after defeating the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1. Moreover, the legendary Aussie also laud his dedication towards the game of cricket.
He is a very skilful and positive captain: Hayden
Matthew Hayden further pointed out MS Dhoni's strong association with the Chennai Super Kings franchise. The 51-year-old further stated that there is a systematic manner of going through and working through things, which Dhoni did for India and is now doing for CSK. However, he feels the legendary wicketkeeper would not be available for the next IPL.
"MS is a magician. He takes someone else’s trash and makes them a treasure. He is a very skilful and positive captain. He said something really interesting which I thought summed up not only his humility and his truth around cricket where he is represented and that is in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association," Hayden was quoted as saying by News 18.
"The alignment between that association and the franchise, how strong that is in terms of building that process. To me that is MS. There is a systematic way of going through things and working through them. He did that for India and he is doing it for Chennai Super Kings. Whether he plays or not next year it is almost irrelevant. Personally, I don’t think he will but then he is M S Dhoni," Hayden concluded.
