After a disappointing performance in the first T20I against Australia, the stage is set for an important clash and the series will be on line for the home side. The visitors chased down a target of 209 within their 20 overs comfortably, and clearly, India lacked depth in the bowling attack. The return of Harshal Patel to the playing XI could not make much of a difference in the death overs, and the talk of the town was the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
The speedster did not make the playing XI as skipper Rohit Sharma wanted him to take a little more time after recovering from his injury. Bumrah also missed the Asia Cup 2022 and fans along with the experts have been quite eager to see him back on the field with the T20 World Cup 2022 coming up next month. Suryakumar Yadav provided an update on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness ahead of the second T20I against Australia.
The environment is good and all are first-class fit: Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav had a query on Umesh Yadav’s role in the side and Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness, and he straightaway denied thoughts on the bowling department. However, he went on to reveal that Bumrah is absolutely fit and ready ahead of the second game.
"Actually I am not aware of any such communication, it is not my department, you should not ask me about it (laughs), these are for physios and team management to answer. But in the team, the environment is good and all are first-class fit and ready for second T20I."
"Absolutely, he is ready, nothing to worry," Suryakumar said during the pre-match press conference. On Harshal Patel’s performance, Suryakumar credited Australia for the way they attacked the Indian bowlers and noted how dew played a part. He further backed Harshal to come good soon.
"Actually after the last game, we didn't have any discussion but as you have seen last day the match went on long and there was also dew, and you also have to give credit to them, they kept attacking, we are trying our best."
"He is very deceptive. I don't bat in net sessions much, but as much as I have played him and also Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar) bhai is also difficult to decipher...” he added.
