MS Dhoni is arguably one of the greatest captains to have ever played the game of cricket not just for India but in the entire world. Dhoni is the only captain to have had the honor of lifting all the major ICC trophies during his reign. Regarded as captain cool, his nature of staying calm under pressure and delivering results has not just caught the eyes of cricketing legends, but also has won the hearts of many cricket fans.

Even in IPL 2023, Dhoni has shown his composure as well as delivered results. The 41-year-old captained the Indian team until 2017, and many players made their debut during his tenure. One such player was KL Rahul, who came into the team on the back of some great performances in the domestic circuit.

Recently, on a talk show with Ranveer Allahbadia on YouTube, the stylish Indian opener opened up about MS Dhoni’s captaincy and the way he handled the team with his composed attitude. Rahul even pointed out that the former Indian wicketkeeper believed in building good relationships with the players so that the players were ready to join him in the fight for the team's success.

“He said this to me a lot of times... trust your gut as a captain. That's something he did, as a leader and as a person in general. The first thought that you get, you always question it, but he never questioned it. If he had a gut feeling about a certain thing, he would never try to question it or second-guess it. He did it, whether it went well or didn't go well. That's what helped him in a lot of ways. That's why he was unorthodox in a lot of ways, people didn't understand at the time but he trusted his gut feeling. That's why he got results too,” Rahul said.

The stylish Indian wicketkeeper also confronted that he does miss Dhoni’s presence in the Indian dressing room because of the way he handled players as well the bond that he had with the players. The 31-year-old also spoke in the show that the former Indian captain always trusted his gut as a leader and in his personal life. He never questioned his gut and that he went on with it no matter what the results come up.
