As many as 1,166 players have registered for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction that is going to be held in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19. However, star England pacer Jofra Archer, who was released by the Mumbai Indians, has not enrolled.

Some of the standout performers in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 like Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Daryl Mitchell have registered their names for the auction to get a chance to play in the cash-rich league.

Among the 1166 players who have enrolled, 830 are domestic players and 336 from overseas players. A total of 212 capped players are on the list while 909 are uncapped. Also, 45 Associate players have been incorporated on the list.

The 18 capped Indian players are Varun Aaron, KS Bharat, Kedar Jadhav, Siddarth Kaul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Mavi, Shahbaz Nadeem, Karun Nair, Manish Pandey, Harshal Patel, Chetan Sakariya, Mandeep Singh, Barinder Sran, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Hanuma Vihari, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav.

Only four capped Indian players, namely Harshal Patel, Kedar Jadhav, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav, have set their base price at a maximum of INR 2 crore. While Harshal and Kedar were released by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the auction, KKR let go of Shardul and Umesh. The remaining 14 capped Indians have kept their base price at INR 50 lakh.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not given any clarification as to why Archer has decided to keep himself out of the impending player auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has told the franchises that they can suggest names of players outside the already registered ones. Those players, if they are interested in participating, will be automatically added to the roster. The BCCI has also asked the franchises to give a list of players from the Register that they would like to be included in the Auction. It has been conveyed to the teams that only 77 slots are to be filled, of which a maximum of 30 can be overseas players.
