Virat Kohli played a coming-from-behind knock against Punjab Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. He looked at his usual best as he switched on his chaser mode in pursuit of PBKS’ 177-run target. Though he could not score the final runs for his team, he made sure Royal Challengers Bengaluru were out of certain trouble. Speaking of the same, his former RCB teammate, AB de Villiers has said that the batter would be less than satisfied as to not have finished the game.

Kohli’s blitzkrieg against the PBKS bowlers included 11 boundaries and a maximum. He seemed to have made a  off statement as he scored 77 off 49 and batted at a strike rate of 157.14. De Villiers did not shy away from being in awe of his old mate’s masterclass in Bengaluru, he expressed that he saw signs just before the second half and commitment was palpable in the former RCB captain's eyes while he was batting.

“I saw some signs on the field while they were there in the first half. Just real dedication, commitment, and motivation I could see in his eyes. This guy means business tonight and no one is going to stand in his way,” De Villiers said on Jio Cinema.

“Unfortunately, he didn't finish it at the back end as he would have wanted to. Knowing him, he'll be analysing tonight in his room. Like, ‘why didn't I finish that game?’ Very hard on himself? Sometimes. He is just an amazing player. He's played fantastically well tonight. He kept it together, kept himself in the game, and well played the right shots. He really did. And it wasn't just big shots,” he added.

Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik take RCB over the line

It was not a Kohli show altogether, RCB found themselves in a harsh situation as Anuj Rawat was dismissed minutes after he departed. They played the right card as Mahipal Lomror was introduced as the impact sub.  He batted fluently with the veteran Dinesh Karthik as both kept the ball out of the boundary line at the business end of the game. Karthik particularly scored an unbeaten 28 and saw his team home with four balls to spare.
