Here’s how the World Test Championship Points Table stands after second Australia vs West Indies Test

Australia registered their fourth-largest victory in Tests, by margin of runs, as they defeated West Indies by 419 runs on the fourth day of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. With this win, Australia extended their unbeaten streak to 11 in the pink-ball Test matches and remain unbeaten in day-night Tests.

After winning the first Test by 164 runs, Australia carried the same momentum in the next game and equal contributions by every player helped them win the series 2-0. Australia did not have their key players Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, but even the inexperienced players impressed everyone. The major win will prove to be a massive boost for the Australian side, who prepare to take on South Africa next.

The hosts scored a huge total in the first innings despite a rare mistake from the acting captain Steve Smith. Australia had control, thanks to big hundreds from Marnus Labuschagne and local lad Travis Head. They declared the innings just as the pink ball started acting strangely under the lights. Once again, West Indies lacked the skill to put on a significant performance.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Anderson Phillip's mediocre efforts could only manage to bring in a little over 200 runs. The bowling team worked together as almost everyone was among the wickets, but the Windies' bad running between the wickets made matters worse. Stand-in skipper Smith made the right decision to waive the follow-on.

Despite their enormous first-innings lead, the Australians decided to bat for a few hours so that the bowlers could take a breather. The West Indies have dropped down to the seventh position from sixth, and they now have 40.91% points, from what was previously 45.

While South Africa are placed second in the points table, Sri Lanka are placed third. India and Pakistan occupy the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
