After a gutsy 65-ball 60-run knock in his debut international innings against a proven Indian pace attack, Sam Konstas attracted several conversations to be made about him. The fearless manner in which he tackled the likes of ace Indian fast-bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, and the rest was quite a refreshing sight. Konstas has been picked for the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka.

Standby skipper for the Sri Lanka tour, Steve Smith, shed light on how batters at the international level go about things as they progress through their careers.

"As a batter, you can only learn by yourself, in a way. You play the way you want to play because it's your career. From there, you learn along the way through experiences. I've seen him bat like that and I've seen him bat more conventionally in a Shield game and do really well," shared Smith in a conversation with Fox Sports.

He's got a bright future: Konstas

Smith further expanded on the expansive repertoire which Konstas comprised at the tender age of 19 and was confident of a successful career ahead for the young batting prodigy.

"He's got all the tools, and I think he has the ability when he wants to absorb pressure, and he's got the ability to put a lot of pressure back on (the bowlers). It's something he'll learn. He's only 19, he's a kid. He's going to have plenty of experiences and he's going to learn them along the way. He's got a bright future," added Konstas.

It will be interesting to see how Konstas deals with the Lankan contingent on tracks which are sure to aid spinners. In his nascent career up until now, the Lankan tour will be the first time Konstas will face a high-quality spin attack. Only the passage of time will reveal how Australia would like to utilise him in the Test series to follow.
