'He's just getting better and better' - Mitchell Marsh praises Rishabh Pant's leadership skills in IPL 2025
LSG are sixth on the points table with five wins out of nine games.
Mitchell Marsh, Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) opener, praised his captain, Rishabh Pant, for his leadership skills in the ongoing IPL 2025. Marsh has played under Pant's captaincy at Delhi Capitals (DC) as well, so he knows him and has seen his progress.
There are a lot of questions being raised about Pant because of his whopping salary. However, the player has changed his batting position quite frequently and hasn't been able to get the runs with the bat. Nevertheless, LSG are in a good position with five wins in nine matches. They still have five matches in hand and will have to win at least three more games to qualify for the playoffs.
Marsh started his season by scoring many runs. So far, he has amassed 344 runs in eight matches at an average of 43. He is in the seventh position on the Orange Cap list. Ahead of the game against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Marsh was asked to reflect on Pant's captaincy, to which he said that 'he's growing'.
"Look, I think he's really growing into a role and he's still reasonably young, but, yeah, he's a good leader. And, yeah, he's just getting better and better. So (I'm) looking forward to hopefully playing under him for a while," said Mitchell Marsh as quoted by Cricbuzz.
I feel like a baseballer: Mitchell Marsh
Marsh also opened up on his role in the team and how he has been enjoying batting. However, he revealed that if the team needs him, he can also roll his arms. He is currently batting as an Impact Player for the LSG team.
"It's a different experience (going only as a batter), that's for sure. I feel like a baseballer. It has been a lot of fun. And yeah, I'm open to the role whenever they need me in the field or my bowling will come back at some stage. So the dream will be over," added Marsh.
