‘He's scored hundreds out here in the past’ - Usman Khawaja lauds Babar Azam ahead of Australia vs Pakistan Tests

After the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, Australia and Pakistan are all set to face off in a three-match Test series. The first Test of the series will be held on December 14 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, and there could be many battles that the fans will look forward to as the game between Australia and Pakistan approaches.

Ahead of the series, one player that Australia would look out for would be ace Pakistan batter Babar Azam. Talking of the same, veteran Australian batter Usman Khawaja came forward to heap praise on Babar; he labeled him as one of the best batters in world cricket.

"He performs not only in Pakistan, but he actually does really well in Australian conditions too. He's scored hundreds out here in the past. I actually think this is one of the strongest teams they've had come over. You've got Babar … Imam-ul-Haq scores a lot of runs, Abdullah Shafique … they've always had great fast bowling, and spin to match. They're one of the better teams in the world,” Usman Khawaja was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.

Furthermore, Khawaja also talked of how interesting an encounter could be between Australia and Pakistan. With Babar giving up his captaincy, he remains a bigger threat to Australia with the bat, and it could be interesting to see how he fares in the upcoming game.

"Normally when they've come out you think that maybe their batting might not be able to match, but I'm really excited because I think it's going to be a really good challenge,” Khawaja said.

With the series approaching, Pakistan will be keen on putting on a good performance against the Aussies. It is worth noting that Pakistan have been whitewashed in their past five tours to Australia, and the side will be keen on changing that outcome.
