'Hopefully that can happen soon' - Sam Konstas opens up on Australia debut dream
"I really want the chance, I love being challenged," said Konstas.
Sam Konstas blasted a 90-ball century against India for the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra on Sunday, December 1. He scored 107 laced with 14 boundaries and one maximum when the top order failed to capitalise. With Australia trying to come back in the series after the Perth loss, Konstas has quipped that he is in the right head space to represent Australia at the highest level.
Recently, he became the youngest player to score twin tons in a Sheffield Shield game. He became the first player to do so after Ricky Ponting had achieved this feat. After going through a rough patch, he scored an unbeaten 73 for Australia A against India A at the MCG in November. But the opener had to wait as Australia called Nathan McSweeney to wear the baggy green and open alongside, Usman Khawaja.

"I really want the chance, I love being challenged and hopefully that can happen soon. I feel like I'm in a good headspace. It's been the best few months I've had, and hopefully one day I can represent my country. For me, it's focusing about Friday and then trying to score runs to put myself forward. It would be a huge honour to represent my country one day,” said Konstas as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
It's about being in the present: Konstas
Shane Watson, David Warner and Steven Smith showered praised on the 19-year-old after his successful Australian summer. He was also part of Australia’s Under-19 team which eventually lifted the World Cup. Konstas revealed that he is unfazed about the hype that surround him while also revealing that he strives to be "the best version of myself”.
"I don't get too fazed about [the hype]. It's about being in the present and being the best version of myself, and then hopefully let the result take care of itself,” he added.
