The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy was one dramatic series that eventually went in favor of hosts Australians who clinched the series by a 3-1 margin. Meanwhile, in one of the biggest shockers of the series, Rohit Sharma dropped opted out of the fifth and final Test of the series in Sydney due to his poor form in the series.
The 37-year-old had a terrible run in the three matches he played and could only score 31 runs at an average of 6.20 - the lowest average for a captain touring in Australia. Meanwhile, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has lauded and backed Rohit for his decision to miss the SCG Test while bringing up some of his recent achievements as well.

“The guy has stepped down from the last match and given somebody else a chance. How many captains have done that in the past? Please tell me," Yuvraj said this during a press event quoted by The Indian Express.
“I always look at the team graph over five years or three years. Gautam has just come into the system, he needs more time. Rohit Sharma has won the T20 World Cup as captain, he was captain when India played the ODI World Cup final. He led MI (Mumbai Indians) to five IPL titles,” Yuvraj added.
Rohit and his men are now focussing on the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place in Pakistan and UAE. While his poor form in red-ball cricket has been a concern, Rohit's performance in white-ball cricket has been far better. He last played the format against Sri Lanka, as he scored 157 runs at an average of 52.33 with two half-centuries in the three-match series.
