Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant set an entirely fresh benchmark in the Indian Premier League by becoming the most expensive player in the history of the cash-rich league. For the most part of the bidding process, the Lucknow Super Giants were in fierce competiton with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Finally, the see-saw moment arrived with the Delhi Capitals, wanting to buy their now-former skipper back for INR 20.75 crore, opted for a Right to Match. However, LSG, who had the option of increasing the bid one time as per the new RTM rule, raised the paddle to a staggering INR 27 crore.

It was then when DC backed out, with LSG acquiring the services of the dynamic cricketer for a groundbreaking sum. Pant, who beat all odds to make a stunning return to international cricket after a fatal car accident in December 2022, is anticipated to lead LSG in IPL 2025. However, ever since the historic acquisition, was made, there have been various questions circulating in the cricket fraternity regarding Pant's net pay post tax deductions.

As per the guidelines set, players were bid on and bound to contracts spanning a duration of three years. The total amount spent by the franchise on a specific player represents the total salary for a year.

As per the guidelines set, players were bid on and bound to contracts spanning a duration of three years. The total amount spent by the franchise on a specific player represents the total salary for a year. The IPL salaries are paid on a per-season basis. For instance, if a player is bought for INR 15 crore, they earn INR 15 crore for each season they participate in the contracted cycle. Over a three-year contract, the player would earn INR 45 crore at the rate of INR 10 crore per season), subject to their availability

Pant's net salary post the Indian government's deduction of INR 8.1 crore (approx) is set to be INR 18.9 crore in-hand for 2025.

In the unfortunate case of Pant sustaining an injury during the IPL, he will be eligible to receive his entire payment. However, if at all the injury occurs before the tournament commences, hence preventing his participation, the franchise holds the authority on replacing Pant with another player.

If Pant, or for that matter, any Indian player becomes injured while representing the nation hence rendering them unavailable for the entirety of the IPL, they will be bound to receive their total payment for the season. This will be covered by the insurance policy placed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
