'How the hell am I gonna say hi to her' - Virat Kohli shares untold story about first meeting with Anushka Sharma

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma are one of the most renowned couples in the country and were blessed with a baby girl in 2021 after they tied the knot in 2017. They continue to be one of the most talked about celebrity couples and boast of a huge social media following due to their strong bond.

However, the Indian batting ace has shed light on his very first encounter with Anushka Sharma in a casual chat with former Royal Challengers Bangalore team-mate and close friend AB de Villiers on his 'the 360 show'. Kohli revealed that he was nervous meeting the Bollywood actress for the first time and was shaking ahead of an ad shoot.

"I remeber this was 2013, I was just named captain for the Zimababwe tour. My manager came to me and told me that I was going to shoot with Anushka Sharma. As soon as I heard this, I was so nervous. Like how the hell am I gonna do this. I was really nervous," Kohli said on the podcast.

The batting superstar revealed that he was really nervous when he heard about meeting Anushka as she was a renowned actress at that time, and he had no idea how to approach her. Kohli remembered cracking an unamusing joke about her heels when they met for the ad shoot but eventually hit it off after a few get-togethers.

"Out of nervousness, I didn't realise how tall she was. So the first thing I told her when I saw her heels was, 'Didn't you get anything higher to wear?' and she was like 'Excuse me?' It was so bad, I was so nervous. But then I figured out that she was a normal person and when we got talking I realized our background was so similar. From there on we became friends and then gradually we started dating, it didn't happen instantly," he added.
