Former India international Kris Srikkanth expects Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to feature in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is slated to begin on June 1. Notably, the duo hasn’t featured in the shortest format since the T20 World Cup semi-final in 2022 but has been called up for the upcoming three-match series against Afghanistan. However, there was a lot of confusion regarding their participation in the shortest format.

Srikkanth mentioned that the team management cannot drop Rohit if he claims to be available for selection. He stated that the 36-year-old is hurt after losing the final of the ODI World Cup to Australia and would want to go out with the T20 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies and the USA. Srikkanth also added that Virat Kohli will definitely feature in the tournament as he is in remarkable form.

“Virat Kohli is a certainty. He is in great form. Rohit Sharma, maybe, is confident because of how he scored in the World Cup. He will regroup and try and do well in the IPL. If Rohit Sharma says I am available, you can't say you will drop him. At the end of the day, Rohit Sharma is also hurt that he has lost a World Cup. He would like to go out with a World Cup in his hand at least. He was there in the 2007 World Cup. He would want to do something similar, win a World Cup, and go out,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli would definitely want to win a T20 World Cup: Srikkanth

Considered to be one of the all-time greats, Virat Kohli is yet to win a T20 World Cup. He was the leading run-scorer in the last edition of the mega tournament and is in ‘extraordinary form’ at the moment, for which Srikknath believes that the cricketer is undroppable.

“Virat Kohli would definitely want to win a T20 World Cup. Moreover, last year only the T20 World Cup took place, 13 months back. Virat Kohli was in extraordinary form. If they say they are available, I don't think you can drop them,” the 64-year-old said.
