Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill is in remarkable form in the ongoing IPL 2023. In 13 matches so far, the 23-year-old has smashed 576 runs at a strike rate of 146.19 and with that, he is currently second in the IPL Orange Cap race.

Recently, in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gill registered his first century in the cash-rich league and following which, many former cricketers including Robin Uthappa lauded him for his consistency.

Uthappa also added that the Punjab-born cricketer has the potential to be someone as great as Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar if he keeps up with his form. The cricketer also talked about another upcoming star of Indian cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and mentioned that these two cricketers are definitely the next big thing in Indian cricket.

“I definitely see him having the potential of becoming someone as big as Virat Kohli or Sachin Tendulkar. I certainly think he has got the stuff. He is a phenomenal player who is in exceptional form and is playing some exceptional cricket at the moment,” Uthappa was quoted as saying by India Today.

“I feel and believe personally that Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the two next big things of Indian cricket,” the 37-year-old added.

Notably, Jaiswal is having a breakthrough season in the ongoing IPL, amassing 575 runs in 13 matches so far. He has been one of the most consistent cricketers in the Rajasthan Royals set-up and with that, he is currently third in the IPL 2023 Orange Cap race.

Playing for Mumbai in domestic cricket, Jaiswal also made the headlines in the Ranji Trophy last season and that’s why, many experts in the form of Uthappa, and Kevin Pietersen among many others believe that Jaiswal can soon break into the national team.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans have already qualified for the IPL playoffs but Rajasthan are in a tight spot at the moment. They will have to win their last league game against Punjab Kings but will also have to keep an eye on other teams as net run rate can decide their fate in the season.
