Sunil Narine is having a great time in the middle with both bat and ball in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He is entrusted with the role of the opener by Kolkata Knight Riders and the move is reaping rewards for the team as he has amassed 482 runs. With the ball, he has plucked 16 wickets so far. But the former West Indies star has been in demand by his national side players to come out of retirement for the T20 World Cup 2024.
The T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to commence from June 2 and the latest edition is jointly hosted by the West Indies. It is understandable that Narine who has played plenty of cricket at home is a great asset for the team. Another West Indies star player, Andre Russell has persuaded the 35-year-old to come out of retirement just for the sake of the World Cup. But the veteran remains adamant about chucking international cricket.

"I definitely think so (should Narine play T20 World Cup?). I was trying to get in his head before the squad was announced. For like two weeks straight, me and Rutherford kept talking to him and told him 'Hey please, just for this World Cup, then you can retire, do whatever you want to do'. "I think he has made a decision and I respect his decision as well. If he could change the decision, the whole West Indies will be happy," said Russell as quoted by Republic.
