'I don't think we have done something new' - Harmanpreet Kaur backs Deepti Sharma after she runs out Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end

The Indian Women's Cricket team ended their UK tour on a high note as they clinched a victory in the final game at the iconic Lord's and whitewashed the series 3-0. India scripted history as the Women in Blue completed a series whitewash in England for the first time in the history of the game.

After the win, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was all praises for how the girls performed, and was very happy that they could win the series on a high note so as to give a perfect farewell to Jhulan Goswami, who played the final game of her international career. But Kaur had special praises for allrounder Deepti Sharma, who made the win possible by planning the perfect final wicket. 

The game came down to the final few balls, with England needing just a few runs to win and India needing just one wicket to put an end to it. It was Deepti Sharma, who showcased her presence of mind to run-out Charlie Dean on the non striker's end, who had left the crease before Sharma bowled the delivery.

While there were many at the stadium, the English fans, commentators and the players, who did not support the move, Kaur said that it was all fair and square, and also said that mankading is now considered as runout as per official rules and regulations of the ICC.

While receiving the Player of the Series award during the post match ceremony, Kaur spoke about the run out as she said: "I thought you will ask about the first nine wickets because they were also not easy to take. I don't think we have done something new. What I feel is that shows your awareness of what the batters are doing. I will back my player because I don't think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules."

Kaur lauds Jhulan Goswami

Harmanpreet Kaur also had special praise for Jhulan Goswami and also revealed that the legendary cricketer had backed her during her tough times. "When I debuted she was a leader. Before the game I just told her that whenever I was going through my best time many people supported me. But doing my rough times she was the only one always supporting me.

"I just wanted to thank her. She'll always be there for us. She's just a call away. We're really thankful that we got a chance to play with her. She is my go-to person. During my low time I would always discuss what to do and she was always guiding me," Kaur added.
