Veteran Australia spinner Nathan Lyon recently came forward and revealed how he tackled star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal's sledging in the first Test in Perth in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As India continued to dominate Australia in Perth, Lyon revealed that Jaiswal had called him old.

It is worth noting that Jaiswal departed for a duck in the first innings of the game, but he followed it up with a mammoth 161-run knock in the second innings, helping India post a total of 487 runs in the second innings of the game. Throughout the game, the battle between Lyon and Jaiswal was billed as a thrilling one.

However, Lyon talked about what Jaiswal had said to him during the game and how he had responded to the same as well. "You're a legend, but you’re old,” said Jaiswal. "Appreciate that, mate, but I don’t feel that old,” Lyon replied.

Holding a plethora of experience, Nathan Lyon only managed to take two wickets in the Perth test as India defeated Australia by a whopping 295 runs in the first Test.

He's the ultimate team man: Lyon on Josh Hazlewood

It is worth noting that Australia will be without the services of Josh Hazlewood in the second Test of the series as he has been suffering from a side strain. However, speaking of his recovery, Lyon revealed that Hazlewood has been working hard to get back to full fitness.

"It's pretty disappointing. The other day when he told me, about four or five days ago now, that he had a little side issue. But, yeah, the quality of a person that Josh is. He is getting around everyone, making sure that everyone's right here first, but he's also doing his rehab and training ball. You've seen him doing his training tonight, and I think he did a 90-minute rehab session yesterday, so he's the ultimate team man. To be honest mate, he puts everyone first, and you will see that this week,” Lyon was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.
