The Indian team has been gearing up for the Champions Trophy 2025 and they will commence their campaign against Bangladesh, on Thursday, February 20. The game will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, in Dubai. It is worth noting that, in the past eight years, India have reached the finals of the ICC event for an impressive five times. However, they have won just once, which was the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa.
One glaring aspect of India’s failures has been the lack of gas while chasing the targets. Notably, the Men in Blue have chased in 14 games in the knockouts of ICC events. They have won six games and have lost as many, which brings their win percentage to 50 percent. Former India cricketer, Suresh Raina shed light on this drawback which has been haunting the team for years now and stated that ‘it's important to put runs on the board in a big final.
"We couldn't chase in the 2015 World Cup against Australia. We couldn't chase the total in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2017 final. We tried chasing in 2019, but we couldn't do it. We didn't have to chase in the 2013 Champions Trophy final. So, it's important to put runs on the board in a big final. Sometimes, we make mistakes, but we learn from them. I don't think we'll make those mistakes in 2025," Raina told JioHotstar.
