Fitness and fast bowling go hand in hand and a pacer must ensure that he meets all the fitness standards required for playing international cricket regularly without getting tired or breakdowns. Apart from the mandatory gym and net sessions, a proper diet plan is also one of the most important things that a fast bowler needs to take care of.

Lately, one of Pakistan’s frontline pacers Haris Rauf opened up on his diet which he never compromises with and has made it a daily routine. The 29-year-old said that he consumes 24 eggs everyday.

Meanwhile, Rauf also added that the diet plan was suggested to him by the legendary Pakistan seamer Aaqib Javed.

I was 72 kgs then and Aaqib bhai told me I need to be around 82-83 kgs: Haris Rauf

"I eat 24 eggs a day. Aaqib Javed had given me the diet plan: 8 eggs for breakfast, 8 for lunch, and 8 for dinner. When I had gone to the cricket academy for the first time, the room had crates of eggs piled up. I felt as if I had come to some poultry farm," said Rauf while speaking on the Geo News show 'Hasna Mana Hai'.

"I was 72 kgs then and Aaqib bhai told me I need to be around 82-83 kgs, ideal for my height. I am now 82 kgs," he added.

Haris Rauf is one of the late entrants in Pakistan cricket who had to patiently wait for their chances in order to play at the international level. After playing tape-ball cricket for a few years, Haris got his first big breakthrough when he was selected by Lahore Qalandars for the 2019 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

However, the Rawalpindi cricketer became a renowned player when he was roped in by the Melbourne Stars for the 2019/20 season of the Big Bash League (BBL). He had a dream season as he showcased remarkable bowling performances that helped Stars make the final. He kept all the batters guessing with his express yorkers.

In May 2020, Haris Rauf’s years of hard work and dedication bore fruits as he was awarded a central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and since then he has been one of their key players in the white-ball set-up.
