The recently concluded T20I series between India and Bangladesh was not devoid of swashbuckling cricket in terms of the ball getting smacked to all parts of the ground. The bowlers were at the batters' mercy in what was an absolute run fest. However, it was rapid paceman Mayank Yadav, who was handed his debut at the start of the series, proved a tough nut to crack. Although he picked up only four wickets in three games, the constant speeds he was clocking were second to none.

Former India opener, Aakash Chopra, in a recent discussion, observed the manner in which the think tank of the Indian team wasted no time in providing Mayank with a well-deserved opportunity to get some game time under his belt.

"When we are talking about finds, Mayank Yadav needs to be spoken about. He has been fast-tracked. He has hardly played any first-class matches and he straightaway came into the Indian team. He had just returned from injury, hadn't played any competitive cricket, and was suddenly playing for India," stated Chopra in a video on his official YouTube channel.

Chopra went on to dig deeper into what he felt was in store for the Delhi-born quick in terms of the upcoming series Down Under. However, he was a little apprehensive regarding Mayank's lack of domestic exposure being a hindrance to his professional growth.

"He is definitely one of the big positives because he is a part of the traveling reserves as well. I feel the Indian team is thinking about taking him for the BGT, to at least keep him with the team. However, I do feel it might be a little early because the repertoire of first-class cricket is not yet ready. Sometimes, you go with your gut and say let's try as he can make a difference," mentioned Chopra.

Turning to his outings across the three games, Chopra was glad that Mayank was not only bowled out in all the games, but the fact that he was provided the brand new ball in the third T20I, as compared to him coming as the second and fourth-change bowler in the first and second T20Is, respectively.

"He has got the pace, there is no doubt about that. He played all the three matches, bowled his entire quota in all three games, and picked up wickets as well. He was even given the new ball in the last match. It was good because you give the new ball at the start at times, 25 runs are scored in the first over, and you say 'oh God'," noted Chopra.

The cricketer-turned-commentator was impressed with the fact that Mayank got into groove despite him coming off a long hiatus due to an abdominal injury.

"You feel deflated, but that was not the case. His first over was a maiden. He bowled a bouncer on the first ball of the first over in the last match and dismissed the batter. He was slightly ginger at the start. He even said that he was holding himself back a little because he had come back from injury. I felt he was getting his rhythm in the last match," added Chopra.
