Sunrisers Hyderabad revived their playoff hopes after defeating Delhi Capitals by nine runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, halting their three-match losing streak in IPL 2023. While Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen shone with the bat for the Hyderabad-based outfit, young English batting sensation Harry Brook failed to fire against the Capitals.

England's dashing batter Harry Brook has been one of the most talked about cricketers in world cricket ever since making his debut for the national team last year. His batting exploits with the national team fetched him a lucrative sum at the IPL 2023 auction. However, he failed to live up to the expectations in his maiden appearance in the tournament so far.

Although Brook was dismissed for a two-ball duck against David Warner's side, Sunrisers Hyderabad's batting coach Hemang Badani feels that it is just a matter of time before the Englishman finds his groove in the ongoing tournament, and he needs just one innings of substance to get back in touch.

"It’s a question of momentum, it’s about getting back into touch. I’m a firm believer that it’s a question of one knock in the middle then it falls back into the picture. I genuinely believe Harry will be one of the biggest names in world cricket. You have to give them enough ideas and strategies on a given surface against a given attack, what are your options, what shots can you play, and what’s the expected role of you," Badani said during the post-match conference.

When you are able to break a partnership then the floodgates open: Badani

Despite putting up a handsome total on the board in the first innings, the Orange Army were under the pump in the second half of the match as Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt took the attack to the SRH bowlers. Badani shed light on the message that was imparted to bowlers during the timeout, which paid dividends for the visitors.

“I’d be lying if I said we weren’t pensive. We were worried seeing them put runs and batting at a canter but when we had the timeout break, the message that was given to the bowlers was that a lot of DC batters were playing on the back foot and we were giving them pace and the length was slightly shorter. When you are able to break a partnership then the floodgates open and that was one of those things that happened today,” he added.
