Franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) will be hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the upcoming game. This will also be the match where they face one of their former teammates, Ishan Kishan. The Bihar-born cricketer has opened up about his move from the Boys in Blue to becoming a part of the Orange army this year.
Ishan Kishan had been part of the MI franchise for the past seven years and won two titles with them. This is the first time in his IPL career that he is representing the Hyderabad franchise, and he has expressed his joy at being part of the team. Kishan revealed that he enjoys the calm nature of the dressing room and also named some of his favourite players within the squad, highlighting upcoming prodigies in the team. He is very confident about the team's prospects.
“When I got here, I got those goosebumps suddenly, looking at everything orange here in Hyderabad, because I was with Mumbai Indians for the last seven years. But this is a very new experience. Looking forward to it. And at the same time, looking at how Sunrisers Hyderabad is playing right now and the atmosphere I saw in the team is totally different from what I expected. There is a lot of calmness," Kishan said on the JioHotstar special show Gen Bold.
"There is a lot of clarity among everyone. Everyone is very helpful here. So I'm loving it till now. Abhishek Sharma, Abhinav Manohar, and Zeeshan Ansari are my three favourite team members. Sunrisers Hyderabad as a team is a very bold team, and I feel we're going to rock this year,” he further added.
Fearless cricket begins with leadership: Kishan
There are a lot of mixed views on the Orange Army’s approach this season, with some experts supporting the fearless style while others believe there should be more balance. However, the 26-year-old has shown full trust in this style of cricket and stated that they will continue playing with this approach throughout the IPL 2025 season.
“Fearless cricket is not just about going out there and hitting every ball. It starts when your captain believes in that kind of approach for the team. I feel all the other team members are right behind him (Pat Cummins), ready to play the same way he wants us to. When your captain brings that kind of clarity to the team, it becomes easy to play fearless cricket. We just play the way we’re used to — and we’ll go in with that same approach,” Kishan concluded.
