During the post-match conference, as Australian skipper Pat Cummins was bestowed with the Player of the Match award, he confessed to being initially unaware of the hat-trick he had achieved on the first delivery of the final over of the first innings. It was only when it was displayed on the big screen that he became aware of his accomplishment.

Cummins also expressed his elation at dismissing the established batter, Towhid Hridoy (40 off 28), the wicket of whom completed his hat-trick. He was particularly pleased to have taken Hridoy's wicket with five deliveries remaining in the innings and was delighted to have restricted the Bangladeshi side to a modest total of 140/8.

"I had no idea (on the hat-trick), then saw when it came up on the screen. Set batter in, playing the innings, you never know how it'll go about, so that was a big wicket (on Hridoy's wicket), and happy to have restricted them," stated Cummins.

Remarkably, Cummins became only the second Australian to secure a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup and the seventh player overall to achieve this accomplishment. He follows in the footsteps of Brett Lee, who attained the same against the same opponent in the inaugural edition of the marquee event.

Fairly polished performance, and the goal was to win: Cummins

Cummins elaborated on the formidable depth of Australia's bowling reserves, highlighting the strategic advantage of having Nathan Ellis and Ashton Agar as potent options that could be deployed based on the conditions or match situations.

The 31-year-old was also gratified with the polished performance exhibited by the entire team, which culminated in a 28-run victory via the DLS method. This triumph was anchored by their explosive batting and coupled with an outstanding bowling display. Cummins emphasized that the primary objective was to secure a win, expressing satisfaction that they accomplished this in a manner that significantly boosted their net run rate. He expressed optimism that this momentum would propel them further in the tournament.

"Agar and Ellis have been on the bench for us, that shows the depth we have in the bowling unit. Fairly polished performance, the goal was to win and we did well with the run rate, we'll need to continue with the momentum going ahead in the Super 8s," added Cummins.
