Domestic cricket and Sarfaraz Khan’s magic with the bat is no new affair to Indian cricket as it came to the fore in the ongoing Irani Cup as well. Khan, while playing for Mumbai again the Rest of India, continued his mad run-making, notching up an unbeaten double ton in Lucknow (222). Khan touched upon his blitzkrieg after his innings and also reflected on the emotional turn of events his family had to go through in recent days.
Sarfaraz’s brother Musheer Khan was set to play the ongoing Irani Cup before fate had it the other way. Musheer, while traveling to Lucknow, met with a road accident, fracturing his neck and eventually missing the important tournament. However, Sarfaraz made up for the younger brother in the best possible manner while bringing up a magnificent double ton.

The 26-year-old asserted that he had promised his family and teammates that he would smash a hundred for his injured brother as well if he breached the 50-run mark. The Mumbai cricketer not only stood upright on his words but smashed several records on his way to a splendid double ton.
“It has been an emotional week for me. I had promised my family and teammates that ‘if I am set if I cross the fifty, I will score a double hundred – a hundred for me and a hundred for my brother (Musheer),” said Sarfaraz after Day 3 of Irani Cup.
“If he (Musheer) would have played, Abbu (father Naushad) would have been prouder. Unfortunately, he met with an accident. So, I thought I have to somehow score a double ton in this match,” he added.
