The most recent ICC World Test Championship final involving Australia and India concluded in a disappointing defeat for the Rohit Sharma-led side. Despite trailing behind in the first innings of play at The Oval, India staged a fightback on Day 3 and 4; however, they collapsed in the first session of play on Day 5 and lost the contest by a margin of 209 runs.

Considering what exactly happened incorrectly with India's efficiency, there have been many speculations. Although some cricket analysts and former players criticised the Indian team, several provided advice to enhance team selection and performance. In the same vein, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has remarked that one ought not to draw any sort of inference concerning a result from just one failure. He stated that it is not fair to look beyond great players like Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara at the moment.

“Let's not jump to conclusions due to just one loss, India will always have talent. And I don't think it is time to look beyond Virat (Kohli) or (Cheteshwar) Pujara. Virat is just 34. India has enormous reserves. When you look at some of the performances. I don't consider IPL performances if we are sticking to Test cricket. In domestic cricket there are some fantastic players and you will only find out when you give them opportunities. Whether it be Jaiswal or Patidar, Abhimanyu Easwaran from Bengal scores a lot of runs," Ganguly told on India today.

I hope Hardik Pandya is listening. I want to see him play Test cricket: Ganguly

Former India skipper Ganguly desires to witness the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya make a return to India's Test team and feels that the country is full of exceptional players who could potentially become critical components of the red-ball team.

The former BCCI president feels Pandya will be an outstanding fit for the Test squad, mainly in conditions like England. "Shubman Gill is young, Ruturaj Gaikwad and I hope Hardik Pandya is listening. I want to see him play Test cricket, especially in these conditions,” he added further.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Hardik has accumulated 532 runs at an average of 31.29, with four half-centuries and one hundred, in 11 Test matches. Furthermore, he has snared 17 wickets, including a five-wicket haul.
