'I love playing with the red ball' - Rinku Singh credits his domestic stint after Delhi masterclass

Rinku Singh was in great touch, scoring 53 off 29 balls against Bangladesh in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 9. His inning was laced with five boundaries and three maximums, ending with a strike rate of 182.76. The southpaw was promoted up the order and walked in as number five and he credited his knock to the similar position he batted for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket.

It is worth noting that, the 26-year-old has an average of around 54 in First Class cricket and is yet to make a Test debut for India. In 48 first-class matches, he has amassed 3,179 runs at an impressive average of 53.88, complemented by seven centuries and 20 half-centuries. After his splendid knock against Bangladesh, Rinke expressed his love for the longer format and recalled his domestic stint.

“I love playing with the red ball. The way I batted right now in this match is similar to how I bat at 5-6 number when wickets fall in domestic games. So, I keep backing myself and focus on scoring runs for the team, pulling the team out of difficult situations,” said Rinku speaking to Jio Cinema.

Nitish batted with great intelligence: Rinku

Apart from Rinku, Nitish Kumar Reddy impressed the audience with his striking. The right-handed batter, playing his second game for India scored a quickfire 74 off just 34 deliveries, aided by four boundaries and seven maximums with a strike rate of 217.65. Rinku, speaking of his partner in crime on the day, said the Nitish batted with “great intelligence”.

“There was a no-ball, and he hit a six on the free hit. From there, Nitish’s confidence soared. He batted with great intelligence. We were talking and enjoying a lot as well, and I told him, ‘It’s God’s plan, keep hitting,’” he added.
