‘I think he's almost out of it’ - Pat Cummins gives update on COVID-19-infected Travis Head
“I think he's almost out of it, He'll be fine, and he'll train tonight,” Cummins said.
Star Australia batter Travis Head was recently diagnosed with COVID-19. After the first game against the West Indies, Head was diagnosed with viral infection and is currently recovering from the same. Due to the diagnosis, his inclusion in Australia’s line-up for the second Test at the Gabba, Brisbane is unsure.
Speaking of the same, Australian skipper Pat Cummins came forward to opine that Head has 'almost recovered' from his infection and is one of the frontrunners to make it to Australia’s line-up in the second Test.
“I think he's almost out of it, He'll be fine, and he'll train tonight, Obviously, even if he is still positive he can still play, there might just be a few protocols,” Cummins was quoted as saying by India Today.
The Aussie skipper's statement hinted at the batting all-rounder's possible inclusion in the Brisbane Test, despite him not recovered from the infection yet. It is worthy of mentioning that Head will still have to follow all the necessary protocols as per the playing conditions, but Cummins statement is confident enough about Head's entry right into the playing XI of the game.
We're all adults, been part of night outings: Cummins
Furthermore, Pat Cummins talked of the recent incident with all-rounder Glenn Maxwell after he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after a night out under alcohol influence due to excessive consumption. Talking of the same, Cummins opined that Maxwell has to own his decisions and take responsibility for them, thereby stating that the cricket team has no involvement whatsoever in the private function that the all-rounder was a part of.
“We're all adults, been part of night outings, you have got to make your own decisions. I suppose in this actual incident, he was obviously not on tour with the Australians, he was over there for a private event, he was not with the cricket team. So, it is a little bit different. Absolutely, any decision that you make, you have got to own it and be comfortable with it,” the Australia skipper said during a press conference.
