‘I think some of his decisions have been brilliant’ - Former India skipper Mithali Raj extols Rohit Sharma’s captaincy skills
India will lock horns with England on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval.
The Rohit Sharma-led team India confirmed their ticket to the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 following their massive win against Zimbabwe on Sunday, November 06. Former India women's skipper Mithali Raj has heaped praise on the decisions taken by Rohit during the ongoing World Cup campaign.
The Men in Blue stood out in the Group 2 of the Super 12 stage after major wins coming against Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands. And, the one loss at the hands of South Africa did not stop the side from cruising into the semi-finals.
While the India skipper’s batting may not have been praised by a lot of fans and the cricketing fraternity, his captaincy skills have been much appreciated. Mithali Raj joined the bandwagon and lauded some of his decisions on the field that have helped India bag the ticket to the semis.
"I have been enjoying watching Rohit captain across this World Cup, I think some of his decisions have been brilliant. Some might argue that he could have done this better or that, but every captain makes decisions at the spur of the moment, there are a lot of other factors the captain is considering at that time,” Mithali wrote in an ICC column.
As captain it is important to get your team to refocus: Mithali Raj
The former India skipper further stated that ‘hiccups’ along the way are a part of the process but it is the captain’s job to get the focus back on track.
"The most important thing is that you need to rally your team to achieve that goal and I think he is doing a fine job of that, hiccups will happen here and there, especially in a tournament like the World Cup. You will probably lose a game, but as captain, it is important to get your team to refocus on the goal at hand," added Mithali.
India will lock horns with a lethal English side on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval, as both will look to cement their spot in the final of the event.
