‘I think there's been a breakdown in trust’ - Mark Butcher opines on Ollie Robinson’s absence from England’s Test squad
"I don't think there's any denying his [Robinson's] skill as a bowler, and I'm pretty sure that is not the reason why he's on the outside at the moment," Butcher said.

Former England cricketer Mark Butcher recently came forward and shared his thoughts on England pacer Ollie Robinson’s exclusion from the side’s Test squad. Butcher shared that Robinson had not been selected due to a breach of trust between Robinson and the management.
It is worth noting that Robinson has missed out on England’s six Tests in the home summer and has been left out of the side’s upcoming tour to Pakistan. The series against Pakistan will kick off with England facing off against the side from October 7 in Multan.
Sharing his thoughts on Robinson’s absence, Mark Butcher took centre stage and opined that there is no doubt that Robinson has the skill of a top bowler. However, he opined that the trust between the 30-year-old and the management has broken down to the point of no return.

"I don't think there's any denying his [Robinson's] skill as a bowler, and I'm pretty sure that is not the reason why he's on the outside at the moment. I think there's been a breakdown in trust between him and the management. From what I've heard and what I think I know, the covenant of trust between those guys and the player has broken down almost irretrievably,” Butcher told the Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast.
The management would lay the blame at his door firmly: Butcher
Furthermore, Butcher highlighted how the management would have no problems laying the blame completely on Robinson. He also talked about the England players and receiving some amount of freedom from the higher authority. However, according to the former England cricketer, that leeway between Robinson and Brendon McCullum, Ben Stokes has broken down.

"The management would lay the blame at his door firmly, he might have a riposte to that but that is basically it. There are no denying the numbers or the skill he has. But the England players are given quite a lot of leeway in terms of the trust they are given by management, and I think he's broken that once too many for [Brendon] McCullum and [Ben] Stokes and therefore finds himself on the outer," he added.
