Team India retained the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy after dominating Australia in the first two Tests of the series. The Aussies were not able to get their grip in any of the matches that they played and remained completely dominated by the hosts.

One of the major factors in India’s win against Australia was spin. The threat that Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja put forth was too much for the visitors to handle. Ashwin’s performances stood out and were a key factor in India retaining the trophy.

The spinners of Australia were excellent as well, Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon have been the only positives for the visitors against India thus far. Former Australia skipper Ian Chappell recently came forward and talked about Jadeja and Ashwin and the impact they have managed to create.

"Too often, they (the opposition spinners) do try and replicate the skillset (of Aswin and Jadeja). Talking about Ashwin and Jadeja... They know exactly what to do in India. Ashwin is a damn fine bowler, doesn't matter where he bowls. I've seen him bowl in Australia; he bowled extremely well," Chappell said in a chat with ESPNcricinfo.

"He is also very smart. He figures out exactly what he's gotta do. Jadeja doesn't vary too much, although he has learned a few things and improved his bowling; he's got the skillset that is perfect for India, and the two of them work together," he added.

Nathan Lyon is not R Ashwin: Ian Chappell

Ian Chappell also stated that replicating what Jadeja and Ashwin did against Australia is difficult, and that Nathan Lyon is not Ashwin. Chappell suggested Lyon to stick to his natural style of play.

"In this game, I thought Ashwin bowled bloody well, but Jadeja got the seven wickets, but that's the way it happens some days. I don't think you can come and replicate what they do. Nathan Lyon is not R Ashwin, he's got to bowl like Nathan Lyon, and he has tried to do that," said Chappell.
