Star Indian batter Shubman Gill put forth a sensational performance against England in the second Test of the ongoing series. The 24-year-old was under major scrutiny from critics after a run of poor form. However, Gill showcased his class once again, scoring 104 runs in 147 deliveries. Gill helped India post a target of 399 runs to chase down for England.

His poor run of form even saw his place in the Test side under the radar as well. Gill had gone without a fifty-plus score for 12 innings, and finally scoring his ton after poor form, Gill had a silent celebration as he seemed to have felt more relieved than overjoyed at the century.

Talking of the same, Gill opined that he thought that the job was not done yet, and that was the reason for the muted celebration, and that he was taking his innings one ball at a time.

"I thought the job was not done. That's why it was a mellow celebration. I was taking one ball at a time, obviously there was a lot happening in and around the crease, a couple of wickets, then me and Shreyas had a good partnership and decided that if the ball is there to be hit, we'll hit, otherwise we'll keep trying to rotate the strike,” Gill told the press.

The support that I got from Rohit bhai and Dravid sir has been magnificent: Gill

Furthermore, Shubman Gill opined that the support he received from skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid helped him a lot in getting his mojo back and hitting his third Test century.

"The support that I got from Rohit bhai and Dravid sir has been magnificent and also from the batting coach..That has always kept me motivated," Gill said.

Aiming to chase down a target of 399 runs to win the second Test, England went to stumps on Day 3 at 67 for 1 after losing Ben Duckett quite early into the run chase.
