The 22-year-old Bangladesh uncapped opener, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, has been garnering a lot of attention with his performances. Hasan has been compared with 34-year-old Tamim Iqbal, and that is not just because of their names. Tanzid’s playstyle is quite similar to that of Iqbal in his younger days.
Tanzid came into the spotlight after his performances in the Dhaka Premier League. The 22-year-old scored 371 runs in 13 games for Uttara Sporting Club and even made it into Bangladesh’s U-19 World Cup squad.
Seeing his comparison with Tamim Iqbal, Tanzid Hasan came forward to reflect on the comparisons. Stating that Tamim is his nickname, Tanzid came forward to state that he has been hearing such comparisons from the early stages of his career, and that he has grown up seeing Iqbal play and has even taken inspiration from him.
"This is my nickname (Tamim); I am hearing this from the start of my career (comparison with Tamim Iqbal), and to be honest, I have grown up seeing him play and got inspiration from him. I have seen him a lot in my childhood, and he is an idol. I try to learn a lot of things from him, and whenever I meet him, we talk a lot. If you talk about the expectation of pressure (replacing Tamim Iqbal), I feel we are professional cricketers, and cricket is a game of pressure. The quicker I learn to adapt, the better I will perform," Hasan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Every cricketer will have good and bad time: Tanzid
Tanzid Hasan had impressed everyone with his performances in the recently concluded Emerging Asia Cup 2023. Scoring 179 runs in four games with three fifties. Furthermore, he also came forward to state that training under a variety of different coaches went a long way toward finding his form back.
"Every cricketer will have good and bad times, and we have to accept it, but how we can make a turnaround is important, and I tried to do that by talking with different coaches and working on minimizing my flaws, which helped me get back into runs," Tanzid concluded.
