Despite averaging 54.70 in first-class cricket, Rinku Singh failed to make the cut for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, slated to begin on September 5. When it comes to white-ball cricket, he is always in the scheme of things but the falmboyant batter has expressed his desire to play Test cricket for the nation.

Rinku has recently opened up about his love for red-ball cricket and added that he has the vision of playing in all three formats for India. The Aligarh-born also mentioned that every cricketer aspires to do well in white-ball cricket but he is focused on Tests as well.

“I want to play all three formats of the game. I like playing Test cricket a lot. My batting average in red-ball cricket is 55. I really like to play against the red ball. I enjoy it thoroughly. Test cricket is very big cricket. Every cricketer plays white-ball cricket but playing Test cricket is a massive deal, especially in this era. I am eager to play,” Rinku told News 24.

I will play in the World Cup next time: Rinku Singh

Rinku was one of the favourites to feature for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, due to a lack of opportunities in the IPL, he struggled to get going, which is why the selectors preferred Shivam Dube ahead of him. However, the cricketer isn’t disappointed after failing to get into the winning side. He stated that the selection is not in his hands and is ready to work harder to make it to the next T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India in 2026.

“Every player dreams about playing for the country in the World Cup, and it is my dream as well. I had done well for India, but team selection is not in my hands. Maybe they (selectors) haven’t seen me bowling at that time; otherwise, it would have been a different scenario,” he jokingly said. “It was the selector’s call, due to team combination (failed to find a place), but no problem; I will play in the World Cup next time. I will work harder."
