Pakistan have been displaying dismal performances in every format. The team was ousted from the World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024 from the group stages. They aimed for a revival with the red-ball series against Bangladesh having maintained historical unbeaten tag in Tests against them. But to their dismay, the visitors flew back with the history in their pockets winning the series by 2-0.

With the loss, came intense scrutiny and criticism from every nook and corner. The team performed well in patches and failed to capitalize on Bangladesh’s shortcomings in the crunch situations of the game.

“I mean, extremely disappointed, especially when you start the home season, something we’ve all been very excited about. We waited 10 months for this opportunity. The story has been a bit of the same, like, Australia. We haven’t learned our lessons,” Shan Masood said after the series.

Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram is the latest entrant to the bubble and he stressed the same aspect where for instance, Bangladesh were 26 for 6 in the first innings and won the Test by six wickets.

“For a former player and captain, and a lover of the game, I was left embarrassed at the way they have lost from good positions. I simply don’t get it,” said Akram as quoted by The Indian Express.

Moreover, Pakistan have not won a single Test since 2021. They managed to draw the series against New Zealand in between and England whitewashed them at home. Akram lashing out at the performance exclaimed this was ‘a huge setback.’

“It’s a huge setback and our cricket is at a crossroads. We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket,” Akram added.
