‘I will learn only after I fall’ - Navjot Singh Sidhu analyses Virat Kohli’s mindset following dip in form
“If a powerful person doesn’t showcase his power, then that person does get hurt and should get hurt. I will learn only after I fall," Sidhu said.
The Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 is well underway, and the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team has continued their unbeaten run in the tournament after they recently defeated Afghanistan in the 43rd game of the competition.
However, despite India’s impeccable form, a worrying aspect for the Men in Blue has been the form of star batter Virat Kohli. Having played four games, Kohli has scored 29 runs at an average of 7.25 runs. His latest outing for India saw him score 24 runs in 24 deliveries before he was dismissed.
Seeing his form, former Indian cricketer Navjot Sindh Sidhu took centre stage and attempted to give his take on Virat Kohli’s mindset, opining that the ace batter will be back in form in no time.
“If a powerful person doesn’t showcase his power, then that person does get hurt and should get hurt. I will learn only after I fall. Mujhe lagta hai Virat Kohli mentally itne strong hain ke woh abhyaas se apni galtiyon pe haavi hona chaahte hain (I feel Kohli is mentally so strong that he wants to overpower his mistakes through training). He wants to overcome those mistakes,” Sidhu told Star Sports.
India take on Bangladesh next
Speaking of India’s upcoming assignments, the Men in Blue are all set to take on Bangladesh. Both sides will lock horns in the Super Eight stage of the tournament in the 47th game of the competition at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on Saturday, June 22.
Drawn with Afghanistan, Australia, and Bangladesh in Group 1 of the Super Eight stage, India currently sits in second place in the standings with two points in one match. The side occupies second place due to Australia having a better net run rate than them.
Bangladesh have also played one game in the Super Eight, which they lost against the Men in Yellow. However, they will aim to put in an improved showing against an in-form India.
