Former Australia pacer Brett Lee recently came forward to back the inclusion of star opener Phil Salt in England’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Lee opined that Phil Salt’s performances in the ongoing edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 should guarantee him a spot in England’s squad.
With nine games played, Salt has scored 392 runs to his name and is one of the highest run-getters of the tournament. Salt joined KKR as a replacement signing, and it is safe to say that Salt has repaid the faith invested in him.
Talking about his performances, Brett Lee was impressed, and the former pacer lauded Salt for his performances, opining that his game looks uncomplicated and that it looks very structured.
“I would definitely pick him. His game to me looks uncomplicated, it looks very structured in a sense where he knows exactly through his mind what he's doing, doesn't try to over-hit the ball, he is a very clean hitter of the ball, such a great ball striker, but doesn't go out there and try to, you know, do all these different funky little shots. The ball's up, he hits you in the area where he's meant to hit you, and he backs himself, which is, you know, the most important part of it,” Brett Lee said at a post-match show on Star Sports.

Talking about Kolkata Knight Riders, the team is within touching distance of reaching the playoffs of the tournament. With nine games played, KKR sit in second place in the standings with 12 points to their name. Their most recent win came against Delhi Capitals, where the two-time champions registered a dominant win.
For their next win, KKR will take on Mumbai Indians. Both sides will face off in the 51st game of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, May 3.
