The first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 is already underway with Pakistan locking horns with New Zealand in a mouth-watering clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Both sides will aim to display fine cricket and put a foot in the finals.

On the other hand, team India and a formidable England side will take on each other in the second semi-finals of the marquee event on Thursday, November 10. Fans and members of the cricketing fraternity have already begun speculating on which two sides could make it to the finals.

Former India international Nikhil Chopra has voiced that he would be delighted to see an India-Pakistan encounter in the finals of the competition.

“See, I personally would like to see a repeat of the 2007 World Cup finals. That pitch of Melbourne, India winning their match against England, Pakistan beating New Zealand then it will be fun at Melbourne. If you recall, team India’s first match started off with Pakistan at Melbourne on 23 October. And we saw the result, India beat Pakistan,” said Nikhil Chopra on BatBricks7 presents ‘Run Ki Runneeti show’ on CricTracker.

“There would be no better fun with any other side than witnessing a 2007 final repeat against Pakistan this final. Without belittling any other side, but India and Pakistan match in the finals would be great to watch according to my opinion. Because a force is best confronted with a force of the same nature, it gets fun to watch,” added Nikhil.

The race for the final begins

The Men in Green can be lethal in their own ways and considering the past, Pakistan appear favourites coming into the match against the Kiwis. However, with the form maintained thus far by the Black Caps, they could turn the match their way. England have a few injury concerns with batter Dawid Malan and pacer Mark Wood struggling a bit.
