The wait is finally over as the schedule for the highly anticipated World Cup 2023 has been released by The International Cricket Council (ICC). The cricket carnival, which will last for 46 days, will kick off with a replay of the last edition's final between reigning champions England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5.
Meanwhile, the much-talked-about clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan has been confirmed to take place at the same venue on October 15. While the Wankhede and Eden Gardens will host a semi-final each, the Narendra Modi Stadium will host the titular clash on November 19.
The 13th edition of the iconic quadrennial tournament will be hosted across ten Indian venues with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the major fixtures, including the tournament opener and the summit clash. 2011 World Cup champions and hosts India will kick off their campaign with a bout against the most successful team in the tournament's history, Australia, in Chennai on October 8.
ICC released the schedule exactly 100 days ahead of the tournament on June 27, with growing concerns regarding the participation of Asian giants Pakistan in the global event due to their ongoing dispute against neighbouring India.
