Australia left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemaan's action was cleared by the ICC as he passed the Tests in Brisbane, where all his deliveries were well within 15 degrees. This comes as a sigh of relief for the 28-year-old upcoming Aussie star who was facing one of the dark phases of his cricketing career due to this test.

Matthew Kuhnemann emerged as one of the best bowlers for the Aussies during the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka where he was the highest wicket-taker even after coming back from a serious thumb injury. Kuhnemann missed out on a lot of domestic cricket and was told to take the tests since the injury was on his non-bowling hand.

This was the first time his action was reported in his eight-year career. The ICC also released a statement talking about the tests that took place at the National Cricket Centre.

“He underwent an independent bowling assessment at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on 15 February, where it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension for all his deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations," an ICC statement said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

The news is not only pleasing for Kuhnemann but Cricket Australia (CA) as well who were backing the young spinner as a vital cog of the Test team, especially in subcontinent conditions. CA’s executive general manager Ben Oliver also responded to the news and is happy that the matter surrounding Kuhnemann has finally been resolved once and for all.

“We are pleased for Matt that this matter is now resolved, It has been a challenging period for Matt, however, he has carried himself exceptionally well. He has had the full support of Australian cricket, and he can now move forward to the next phase of his international career with great confidence,” Oliver said regarding the report.
